STILL WATER
FLYFISHING
The Andes mountains valleys are mostly
filled with lakes of glacial origin of
unsurpassed beauty.
We provide watercraft specifically tailored
to fish our lake waters: a good compromise
between speed and navigational comfort on
the one hand, and enough casting space on
the other hand. This enables us to access
remote areas quickly, even in windy
conditions, and to accommodate up to two
experienced anglers along with the guide.
When using wet flies, we mostly cast from a
slowly moving watercraft to the shore of the
lake, which enables us to imitate a small
juvenile fishing escaping from trout.
Therefore we use feathered wet flies,
varying in colours from white, to yellow, to
brown and black. This is also the
conventional order choice according to
daylight conditions (at dusk we use dark
flies, on bright days we tend to use yellow
and white). The key is the moving action you
exert with both the tip of the rod and the
left hand on the line.
When we see surface trout activity (which
mainly occurs in windless spots) we switch
to dry flies imitating some of our local
bugs. |
