HUECHULAFQUEN
BASIN LAKES
Huechulafquen
Basin lakes located near Junin de los Andes,
conform the largest lake chain in the area:
they include Paimun Lake, Epulafquen Lake,
Carrilafquen Lake, Currhue Grande Lake and
Laguna Verde flowing into Huechulafquen Lake
itself. All of them are located entirely
within Lanin National Park; therefore they
are environmentally protected by strict
governmental regulations in order to keep
them as they were originally created. You
will be casting in coasts of incredible
peace and beauty that will enhance your
fly-fishing experience, or wading in streams
where you might never see other people.
These lakes are geographically part of the
Valdivian rainforest and the adjacent
mountains are covered by lengas, coihues,
ñires, radales, aracaurias and other
indigenous trees: logging is strictly
prohibited and so is camp firing.
There are a few lodges situated within the
basin, providing watercraft and guiding
services tailored to fly fish all of the
lake shores. Some of the shores are
excellent for wet flies, and due to wind
conditions they require outboard powered
watercraft. Other windless areas are more
suitable to dry fly casting, and many wading
spots are available especially where
mountain streams flow into the lakes. |
