BARILOCHE –
VILLA LA ANGOSTURA
The city itself
is an icon of international tourism in
Argentine Patagonia, a busy hub well
connected by road and air to most cities in
South America.
Bariloche is located on the Southeast shores
of the largest lake in Northern Patagonia:
Nahuel Huapi. In addition, the city is
surrounded by less accessible lakes -
therefore more suitable to fly fishing- such
as Lake Roca, Lake Mascardi and Lake Fonck.
Villa Angostura is a small, quaint town
located in the Northwest shores of Nahuel
Huapi Lake.
The area is very well protected
from the strong winds that blow sometimes in Bariloche, making it easier to navigate and
fly fish the various bays that Nahuel Huapi
offers. In addition, other smaller lakes are
at a convenient distance: Correntoso, Traful,
Espejo and Falkner among others.
While Limay and Caleufu River are accessible
from Bariloche and Villa Angostura, it is
highly advisable to move North towards San
Martin and Junin de los Andes to really
enjoy hundreds of miles of river waters:
this will ensure both more trout and fewer
anglers. |
