SAN MARTIN DE
LOS ANDES & JUNIN DE LOS ANDES - Guides
Carlos
“Tuqui” Viscarro
Tuqui –pronounced “Two-Key”- was born in
Junin de los Andes, officially dubbed
“Argentine Capital of Trout Fishing” by a
National Government Decree. Tuqui was born
in the right place to become just 30 years
later a star bilingual Head Guide with
international reputation.
Tuqui is essentially a self made man. He
began fishing at age five using a homemade
device called “latita”- a Spanish name for
can. Actually Tuqui along with other fellow
kids used to spin lures into the Chimehuin
River using an empty can.
Tuqui displayed early in his life his
talents as an accomplished angler; he would
tie flies for Gines Gomaritz – a renowned
Argentine fly fisherman and sportswriter-
and soon became an expert fly-caster. But
beyond his knowing all secrets of his home
beloved waters, it is his interpersonal
skills what sets Tuqui apart. He is so much
appreciated by his clients that he was time
and again invited to fly fish in the USA
during the Patagonian off-season. Tuqui
learnt a lot form these international
outings, which helped him grow both as an
angler and as a person. |
